When some free agents say yes to the islanders, then I'll believe players wanna play there. When you you trade for or pick them up of waivers they have no choice but to play on the island if they want to continue an NHL career.

That's some incredible insight.

Don't be surprised if Islanders finish ahead of Buffalo this year.

Viz story is another perfect example of people searching for an anti-islander story to print. He wants to play in Europe.... He doesn't want to play for isles...etc.

Oh those quotes are from months ago before he got traded and were the answer to what would he do if there was an extended lock out.... oh..

I didn't flip out when those reports started making the rounds. Maybe he does play in the KHL next season, but the report seemed to suggest that's a long shot. Granted, it's hard to know exactly what it said since the translation looked like a dictionary threw up random words onto the page, but I took it as him saying playing in the NHL is most important, but he does have KHL offers to consider. The part about not playing in New York I think was part of the bad translation. I understood it as him telling the interviewer if he plays in the NHL, he can't play anywhere but New York because of the trade.

Oh well, even if he does bolt, Snow just has to try again then, even though I'm sure the "build only through the draft even if it takes 500 years" folks around here will probably frantically point to this as the reason why we shouldn't bother. Heck, we've had some prospects bolt for Europe too, does that mean we should never draft again, too?

I think...I hope...Snow finally gets it that the team needs quality help from the outside. Let's see if there's a little urgency in his efforts this summer.

If the interview was from months ago, why did they ask him specifically about the Islanders? Sounds like it was from after the trade, but I think people might be jumping the gun with what he actually said based on a sketchy translation. The English language is unforgiving...move one word, or forget one comma somewhere, and you completely change the meaning of a sentence. If Staple talked to Visnovsky, I'd put more stock in that than a couple of sentences brought to us by Google Translate.

Please don't start that crap.

Player's didn't want to come in the past because things were not great on the ice.

With Tavares, Moulson, Strome, Nabby, Streit, Hamonic, Grabner, etc... now here, the product on the ice is improving.

It will only get better with the new additions.

Players want to win... that's the bottom line.

And please don't compare Long Island to Buffalo.

I have been to both. I live 30 minutes from Buffalo. Yes there are some great places to live in Buffalo, and I would never cut it up .. but overall, Long Island is a nicer destination to raise a family.

I love all the idiots... The reason these free agents did not sign here was 2 fold. One.. front end loaded contracts. if you want to give Erhoff 15 million upfront go right ahead. The Islanders in their current arena situation can not do that at this point.
2. The arena situation...political mess. It is almost over b/c their lease is almost done.

Those 2 points aside every and I mean EVERY hockey player that has played for the islanders wants to stay. Go right down the list.

Nabby.. did not want to come.. just re-upped
Guerin .. loved it here was upset when traded
Weight.. still here
JT- he supposedly hated it here and NEVER would sign a long term deal.. just did..

The point being.. that it is a Great place to live and no one wants to leave. It is only idiots and Trolls who have no clue that talk about how awful it is playing for the Islanders. Find me one player who was happy when he left.. 1.
I am guessing most people would prefer living on Long Island to friggin Buffalo.. just a guess.

I'd settle for just being in the hunt come January! I'd love it if they had that dramatic of a turnaround and got in, but I think it would take two, possibly three fairly big moves to make it happen...I do expect progress though.

just a guess.. they took quotes from that article and added quotes from interview after trade..

I fully expect all the wolfpack whining (Debbie Downers) on the other board will be retracted on here shortly.

Yeah, I saw that...but despite the bad translation, "New York" and "Islanders" are mentioned in the interview. That would be some amazing fortune telling if it was from months ago, no? Edit -- never mind this post...written before your last one, nite, and what you said about added afterward is perfectly possible I suppose.

How did they make out...lol.

Parrish is a mess.

Roloson wanted one more crack @ the Cup.

Wiz made out like a bandit with the new contract... but not with his new team...lol.

Let's try to turn Brendan Witt into Mike Green! Brilliant strategy, Gordon.

I don't see Reindhart or Mayfield on the team this year.. They are both a year or 2 away in my opinion. This year we may see DeHaan, Donovan and/or Ness... but not those 2 guys.

in a year or 2 those 2 on the back line looks pretty solid.

I still think Witt can play. It was only in that system he couldn't. Heck Guerin did not fit into that system.. and he won the cup on Pitt.
